A marked increase in the volume of ocean freight demands we provide specialised service to our domestic and foreign clients thus in order to cater successfully to the principals & customised needs, the Ship Chartering department is segregated into three divisions namely Dry Cargo Chartering, Gas + Tanker Chartering.

These divisions act on exclusive or competitive basis on behalf of principals and are further split into cargo or tonnage specific desks which facilitates prompt and efficient attention to all enquiries received. Each of these desks is manned by trained Chartering specialist rendering quality services to their respective principals.

Prior being inducted as a Chartering executive or Post Fixture Operations executive, the candidates are exposed to the ship agency division at our Head Office as well as the relevant port office(s). This enables them to understand vessel and cargo operations as well as appreciate the relevance of significant Charter Party clauses. Access to our centralized database enables us to guide principals with information they may need during the negotiations.

Interocean is a founder member since 1961 on the panel of Chartering consultants established by Government of India, Ministry of Shipping (popularly referred to as TRANSCHART). Majority of the Indian Government Undertakings route the fixing of tonnage for import cargoes through TRANSCHART.

DRY CARGO CHARTERING

The dry cargo division operates as consultants for cargoes and tonnage ranging from 5,000 Metric Tons up to cape size vessels. Our extensive client list comprises of Owners and Charterers including Public sector Private companies based in India and Overseas.

The chartering teams covers a comprehensive range of cargoes comprising Minerals & Ores, Fertilizers, Agri products, Steels, General & project cargoes, etc. and actively works on voyage / time charters, COAs / CVs and long term period employments.

We also have an IPP Desk which focuses on introducing logistic solutions to established and/ or upcoming Indian Power Plants who are potential Charterers seeking cost effective long term freight solutions for the coal supplies to feed their units.

GAS & TANKER CHARTERING

A rapidly expanding Indian Fleet as well as the significant rise in import and of petroleum and specialized products, implies that chartering consultants have dedicated teams of chartering professionals focusing on different segments of the gas & tanker market, a concept in which we have been the pioneers. The gas & tanker chartering division is catering to following segments:

• CLEAN : The clean desk works cargoes and vessels ranging from 5,000 Metric Tons upto LR2 size and handles Indian import, export and coastal cargoes as well as other cargoes moving worldwide. In addition, we work the clean tonnage owned by Indian Owners.
• DIRTY : We are one of the active Indian chartering consultants for crude and fuel oil fixtures done by private Charterers as well as public sector undertakings such as IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, MRPL, ONGC and SCI. We also closely work Indian tankers seeking employment. The sizes worked by this desk range from 5,000 Metric Tons up to VLCC. We also work cargoes and tonnage controlled by Foreign Oil Companies, Traders as well as
Ship Owners and Operators.

• LNG : Our LNG desk is manned by very experienced LNG chartering executives and we cater to various requirements of our charterers and owners of repute worldwide in addition to working very closely with Indian charterers like IOC, GAIL and Petronet.
• LPG & NH3 : We are one of the oldest gas chartering consultants in India and continuing with our legacy we are actively working not only Indian PSU charterers but also clients worldwide with requirements ranging from very small gas carriers to MGC and VLGC.
• SPECIALISED : An increasing population as well as the widespread industrialization, has made India very active in the import and export of Edible Oils and Chemicals. Given the close association we have with several Owners and Charterers of specialized tonnage, we manage to secure a substantial share of this business. The sizes of these shipments vary from 1,000 upto 50,000 Metric Tons.
• TIME CHARTERS, PROJECTS & RESEARCH : Our spot market team of chartering executives are supplemented by some highly experienced specialists focusing on long term charters, projects and research. A vast network of offices along the Indian coastline and direct contact with global energy players equips us advantageously in providing our clients a wide range of information they need to explore the available market opportunities.
